Which operating systems are supported?
HID password entry and PassKey work on every version of Windows, macOS and Linux — plug and play over standard USB-C. One-tap PIV setup and system pairing are currently macOS only.
What is PassKey and how do I use it with TouchPass?
PassKey is passwordless sign-in built on FIDO2 / WebAuthn. Register TouchPass as a security key on a supported site, then touch the sensor to sign in — no password needed. Credentials stay on the device, and the TouchPass App lists the sites you've used.
What can the PIV smart card do?
TouchPass is recognized as a standard PIV smart card. Initialize PIV in the TouchPass App and pair it with your Mac account to sign in and unlock the lock screen, or use it for enterprise certificate sign-in and code signing.
Why can't one of my fingerprints be used for PIV?
A PIV PIN accepts digits only, so that fingerprint's password must be numeric with at least 6 digits. New fingerprints default to a 6-digit number and support PIV out of the box; if you change it to a password with letters or symbols, PIV turns off for that fingerprint (HID and PassKey are unaffected) and comes back as soon as it is numeric again.
Where are the PassKey and PIV private keys stored?
Both are generated and used inside the device's secure chip and never exported to your computer or the cloud. Fingerprint templates likewise are stored and matched only on the device.
Is my fingerprint data safe?
Fingerprints are stored only as encrypted templates on the device; no images are exported and nothing is uploaded to the cloud.
How do I update the firmware?
One tap in the TouchPass App; firmware is written only after signature verification.
